a) State of art of doubled haploids in ornamental and medicinal plants: In the frame of EU funded HaploTECH project several ornamental and medicinal plants were tested for their in vitro microspore embryogenesis response. In none of the species listed above doubled haploidy has been established.

b) Progress, made in MicroCrop: MicroCrop achieved great progress in some medicinal and ornamental crops, such as Mimulus and Impatiens. Careful staging and optimisation of culture media allowed to isolate and in vitro culture of microspores in these species at high viability and vigor. For the first time, isolated and cultured Mimulus microspores divided with formation of multicellular structures and proembryo. Unfortunately, due to the end of the project and lack of funding these experiments were not continued.
